The Voices In My Head

All the voices in my head are being heard and listened to. If I keep telling myself that I’m an idiot, I am convincing my mind to operate as if that’s true. Our minds are being trained all the time. If I keep explaining to myself that “there’s no way I can do this” and “I am not that kind of person,” my brain will help me make decisions that keep me away from those activities in order to protect the person I am describing.

I will make mistakes. I will fall. If I can talk to myself more gently, I can convince my mind that I am a person who can find a way to make things better. By inserting the smallest thought – that there is a way to do it even if I can’t see how at the moment. By accepting the idea that it is possible, I give my thought process a genuine option to consider: I can do this… I just don’t know how right now.

ACTION: Pay attention to your self-talk today. If the voice in your head sounds toxic, interrupt it. Ask yourself if there’s a more gentle way to think about your nextstep.
