Don’t Hit “Ignore”: Why Warning Signs Deserve Attention

Day five of comparing humans to computers

Ever get frustrated when technology just doesn’t work? I was trying to stream a show, but it wouldn’t play. Turns out, I just needed to close another Netflix window. The error message, though I ignored it several times, held the key to fixing the issue.

We do the same thing with our bodies all the time. We ignore the headache that’s telling us we need water and a break from the screen. We push through fatigue with another cup of coffee instead of listening to our body’s need for rest. We brush off muscle soreness, thinking it’s just “normal” after a workout, ignoring potential injury.

Warning signs, whether from our devices or our bodies, are there for a reason. They can help us avoid bigger problems down the road. So next time you feel a headache coming on, listen to your body. When your computer throws an error message, take a moment to read it. Paying attention to these signals can make a big difference in our overall well-being.

ACTION: Check-in with yourself regularly. Are you ignoring a nagging backache? Is your mind foggy from screen time? A quick body scan and mental note can help you address these issues early on. Simple fixes like stretching or taking an eye break can make a big difference.
