It’s Not Safe in There

We all need safe spaces where we can express ourselves freely, without fear of judgement. But have you ever considered the most constant voice you hear? It’s your own.

Notice this: Would you ever speak to someone in a safe space the way you sometimes talk to yourself?

The language we use matters, and it starts with our internal dialogue. If the thoughts swirling in your head wouldn’t fly in a safe space, why practice using them on yourself?

Practicing safe language starts from within. The more we learn how to find kindness and compassion for ourselves, the easier it’ll be to cultivate safe spaces for everyone.

ACTION: The next time you catch yourself with a negative thought, pause. Ask yourself: “Is this thought helpful? Are there kinder ways I could be talking to myself?”  Explore other response options.

I love this!!!! I frequently say that we (our inner voice) is using more rude, judgmental, and more HORRENDOUS language than we would ever say to anyone-ever. The words, thoughts, beliefs that we use at and to ourselves matters. What we think and believe about ourselves matters.
