Start Again Today
It’s almost the New Year—or maybe it’s not. The date doesn’t matter because a new year isn’t the only fresh start we get. My birthday feels like my personal New Year. The Jewish New Year comes in the fall. The Chinese New Year follows the lunar calendar and lands around late January or early February. We don’t have to wait for January 1st to begin again.
Starting points are powerful. They give us the spark we need to get going, and when we share them with others, they feel even more energizing. That collective motivation—the “New Year, New You” energy—is contagious. It helps us commit to goals and take action. But what happens when that buzz fades? What happens when the novelty wears off, and we’re left with the grind?
Because that’s what real progress looks like: the grind. The daily, weekly, monthly commitment to show up and do the work. It’s not shiny or exciting, but it’s where the change happens.
