Normalize Struggle: How to Embrace Challenges and Rise Above

Ever watch someone effortlessly do something that makes you trip over your own feet? Yeah, me too.

We’ve all been there. Struggling with something, feeling embarrassed about it as you watch others seemingly breeze through the same issue. Don’t add to your burden by piling on the shame. Here’s the truth: I used to think struggling meant I was falling behind. It’s a challenge to find the patience to wait to get good at something or see results for the work being poured into a project.

But the truth is, everyone struggles with something. As I struggle with something that comes easy to some, I might be good at the things that make others stumble. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.

Normalizing your struggle is the first step. Talking to a friend, therapist, or even just journaling can help lift the weight of shame. Remember, admitting you need help isn’t a weakness, it’s a strength. It shows you’re ready to face the truth and take control.

We all love those inspiring montages of athletes missing the shot over and over before finally nailing it. The greater the struggle, the more exhilarating the victory. The same goes for you.

Struggling can be difficult, but it can also be incredibly empowering. You have a choice: confront your challenges and embrace the discomfort of change, or stay stagnant and keep the discomfort of fear holding you back. Choose growth. Choose to rise above.
