TGIF
A lot of people like Fridays. For many, it’s the end of the work week which means there might be some leisure time and/or rest coming. If that’s what it’s like for you; if Friday makes you feel at ease or excited, use that energy on other days.
If going out to dinner or relaxing on a Friday night make you feel good about your day, take that idea into Monday or Tuesday. Go out to dinner or meet a friend on any day. Make other days feel like Friday if Friday is your favorite.
For me, Monday also has its own set of motivating features. I like the idea of a fresh start to my work, the beginning of the week gives me hope that i have time and energy to move forward on my projects and work.
If I feel a lull on a Wednesday, I will borrow from Monday’s energy. I will take a break and start my work as if it’s a new day or even a new week. This approach allows me to generate enough energy, regardless of the day on the calendar.
This week, I put my own strategy to the test. Stuck in a mid-week slump on a Tuesday, I remembered how much I love going on a bike ride. Instead of powering through on fumes, I grabbed my helmet, hopped on my bike, and cruised through Central Park. The fresh air and change of scenery did wonders for my mood. Suddenly, that Tuesday felt a lot more like “mini-Friday.” It was a simple swap, but the boost to my energy and focus was undeniable.
ACTION: When you need a boost, try borrowing a spark from a day that motivates you. Schedule a coffee date with a friend on a Tuesday, or take a lunchtime walk on a Wednesday – whatever small action injects some “Friday feeling” into your week!
