To Pause or Push Through

I was working on a project this week and suddenly hit a wall. I felt fried, but I wasn’t done. It was the middle of my workday, and I didn’t feel comfortable calling it a day. I still wanted to work on some aspects of the material.

What do I do when I’m confronted with the options of pushing through my fatigue or taking a nap? Both have been useful options for me in the past. But how do I know which to choose?

If I’m feeling stuck, how can I decide what to do next?

I have to take a minute to stop and notice how I feel mentally and physically. I can sit still, close my eyes, and get present. By being calm and quiet for a minute, the answer might come to me.

Sitting still for a minute has given me the break I need to recharge and be able to push through. But in this week’s scenario, closing my eyes felt so good that it became clear I needed a nap.

When trying to find my needs, it helps to be in the practice of being still and noticing my mind and body before I make a decision.

ACTION: Take a minute today. Pause. Notice what you need.
