Stop Should-ing All Over Yourself

It’s a new year! Ready for EVERYTHING? Probably not. There’s so much pressure around the new year. “I should be doing this”, “I should be doing that”, and I should be doing the next. But I can’t figure it out! Before I continue to “should” all over myself, I’m going to take a breath. Today doesn’t have to be everything, everywhere all at once. Today is just today. What can I do just for today?

I can remember to savor my coffee. I can take a short walk around the block to fulfill my promise to give myself some time in the sun. I can call a friend.

By taking small actions, I am contributing to my day. I am also keeping that voice at bay that tells me that little actions are insignificant. It helps me let go of the new year’s pressure and embrace the power of small wins.

Action: Pick an action and do it today. Make it as small as possible. Take a short walk or call a friend. Don’t overthink it. Allow the task to be as easy as you need it to be to get into action.
